Description

A scene in a Maori settlement. A number of men perform a haka while others look on. Two groups of men are naked, one group showing the traditional tattooing on the buttocks and thighs. Hutton's description reads: 'A war dance which I saw at Okaha, a place near here. The party coming to pay a visit are those with the paddles in the distance. The near group [displaying tattoos] are the men of the place waiting to receive them.'
