Caption: "The ruins of Kidwelly Castle from the south from whence was its principal entrance It has been a castle of great strength. It is on commanding ground above the Vendreath Vawr River. It was built by Maurice de Londres, Son of Wm de Londres, who was one of the 12 Norman knights who conquered Glamorganshire. It has lately become the property of Ld. Cawdor. Carmarthenshire"
