Description

Watercolour painting on European paper of two women standing in front of a carved stele. One of the women stands facing away from the stele and wears a white sari with red edging; the other woman faces towards the stele and wears a green sari with a white shawl over her shoulders. Both women wear gold jewellery and are bare foot. Behind the figures and the stele a stone wall is visible within trees and shrubs. On the reverse of the paper as landscape of hills and trees has been painted in ink washes.
