Description

Perspective view of a large and impressive church viewed from the northeast with a tower to the right (west) end and evidence of the main nave roof being set lower than originally designed, with a large two storey plus attic timber framed domestic building at foreground left and at right the ruined frontage of a substantial Renaissance townhouse known as Mar's Wark, at extreme right the corner of Argyll's Lodging. Inscribed [erroneously] on reverse "Chapel in Stirling Castle June 1st 1790". The three ancient monuments survive intact today but the half timbered property is no longer extant.
