Description

Tangier from the south-west; view from a grassy slope, below Catherine Fort, a fortified town in the mid-distance with buildings including Peterborough Tower, beyond the bay curving round by Old Tangier to Cape Malabata, and in the distance, the Spanish Coast and Gibraltar, in the left foreground a group of four officers approached by another, below them Whitehall Fort, to right, a party of red-coated musketeers marching to Tetouan; formerly in the 1637 album containing 279 miscellaneous drawings. c.1669. Pen and brown ink, with watercolour.
