In 1884, Malczewski took part in a scientific expedition organized by his friend Karol hr. Lanckoronski to Pamfilia and Pisa in Asia minor. Pamphylia is in the Antalya province, Turkey and Pisa may refer to Pergamon today Bergama in Izmir Province in Turkey.
