Description
One painting, watercolour over pencil on buff card; view showing Governor General's residence at Sorel, Quebec, pen and ink borders. The artist, Lieut. The Honourable F. Fitzgerald de Roos (1804-1861), an officer in the Royal Navy while on a tour of duty in British North America did a number of drawings which were reproduced in his book, Personal Narrative of Travels in the United States and Canada, 1826, published in London, 1827.

In ink on back: "Sorel - drawn for Ld. Dalhousie 30th Sept. 1826. as a small token of rememberance. by Fredk. De Roos"; small initials "F.R." in the lower left border of image
