Description

Studies of the sword from the tomb of Edward the Black Prince, in Canterbury Cathedral, study for part of plate 85 in Stothard's 'The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain', published by Mrs Anna Eliza Bray, 1817-32, one of a large group of studies for this volume; consisting of complete sword at left, tip at centre, and hilt and pommel on the right. 1811. Graphite and watercolour, with pen and brown ink.
