Jan Roupe, a merchant from Amsterdam, bought the Rustenburgh farm located opposite the bridge of Baambrugge in 1640, with 10 mornings of land and adjacent 16 meadows of pasture and hay land, with the intention of constructing a country estate here. Next to the farm he built a country house that was named Stad Dortmont. In 1908 a greengrocer was housed in the building. Commissioned by Willem van Dieren, an adjustment was made to the facade in 1931. In the same year, the property was sold to Willem de Groot. This building remained a greengrocer until well into the 20th century. Until 1975, the municipality owned the building, which wanted to have it demolished in connection with the adjustment of the bend in Rijksstraatweg and the widening of the bridge and Brugstraat.
