Description

Pen and brown ink and watercolour over pencil. This dates from Lear’s third visit to Egypt from December 1866 to March 1867. The purpose of this trip was to visit the Upper Nile which he had never reached and to get to Nubia. This is a typical sketch drawn on the lower reaches of the Nile which tend to be long and thin.
