Located near Martinborough, Wairarapa. In 1847 New Zealand Company Surveyor General Captain William Mein Smith and his partner Samuel Revans were already running cattle and 2,000 head of sheep at Huangarua. The home run was sold to G M Waterhouse in 1869. It was purchased in 1879 by John Martin who subdivided it into farms of varying size and also laid out the town of Martinborough (Historic Wairarapa homesteads; life and times, 1981) see: https://natlib.govt.nz/records/22383181
