Description

Watercolour painting on paper, of the pietra dura decoration on the marble plinth of Arjumand Banu Begum’s cenotaph. The painting shows the floral designs created using the inlay of precious and semi-precious stones in the white marble that covers the Taj Mahal. The painting shows the two types of plant and flowers that are repeated along the plinth and the floral borders which surround them. The painting is framed by a thick black line.
