Description

Plate 5, "Monograph of the Coccidae of the British Isles", by Robert Newstead (Ray Society, 1900-1902). Figures 1-14 Aspidiotus ostraeformis, views insects on peach, currant, plum and heather at various stages of development. One figure circled with the note "Omit". Magnified to x25, x50 and x600. Signed "R.Newstead [del - struck through] ad nat. del.", date cropped by probably "1902". Annotated verso with a manuscript version of the plate description. The facing page is a corrected [in pencil] proof version of captions, "Explanation of Plate V".
