Description

As well as the wallpaper and textiles that Morris created for his company, he was also extensively involved in the production of stained glass windows, creating about one hundred and thirty designs. This cartoon shows an angel sitting on the empty tomb after Christ's resurrection. It is part of a design made for a window at St Michael and All Angel's, Brighton. The church was constructed in 1862 to a plan by G.F.Bodley, and was among the earliest building projects undertaken by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner and Compnay.
