Description
Effigy as originally painted, of Aymer (or Adomar) de Valence, Earl of Pembroke, youngest son of William de Valence, in Westminster Abbey, study for part of plate 48 in Stothard's 'The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain', published by Mrs Anna Eliza Bray, 1817-32, one of a large group of studies for this volume; whole-length, to front, hands held in attitude of prayer, legs crossed, wearing armour and a surcoat with tinctures, underfoot a lion and above head three figures. 1811. Pen and grey ink and watercolour, with graphite.
