Description

Lieutenant James George was part of Governor-General Lord Minto’s British expedition to the region in early 19th century. From 18 May to 18 June 1811, George was in Malacca with Lord Minto and made several sketches. This artwork is significant as an historical record of British exploration in the region. It depicts an iconic view looking across towards the mouth of the Malacca River. Medium: Watercolour on paper
