Description

Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX223.
In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this species as a tree, native of various parts of India, and often cultivated in gardens. It flowers around the end of the cold season, and the fruit ripens in April and May. Roxburgh also reports that the fruit of this plant is palatable to most people.
