Related extract from ‘W.S.W. A voyage in that direction to the West Indies’, by Robert Elwes (published 1866): "[After a night at Flamstead] next morning we set out for a long ride to another gentleman's house on the summit of a neighbouring mountain. The path wound round the sides of the hills and along the edge of steep ravines, along places which would utterly prevent nervous people from going there at all. The views down into the valleys were very fine. We arrived at Bloksberg about noon and put up our horses."
