Description

Watermark (Bridges seems to have joined Portal ca 1790.): [POR]TAL & BRIDGES; [crown over fleur-de-lis in shield over initials GR]. Another watercolour version by Peachey of the same view is in Library and Archives Canada (see Archives Canada Microfiches, Microfiche 2, No. 18; Neg. No. C-2006). An aquatint of the view bearing the inscription "taken 19th Octr. 1784" is mentioned in Archives Canada Microfiches entry. See Peachey notes.
