Description
Marcus Aurelius's column in the centre of the Piazza Colonna in Rome, with carriages full of people dressed for carnival passing through a crowd of merrymakers in costumes as Pierrots, Harlequins etc. , and another group looking on from a balcony at the corner of a building on the right. 1804. Hand-coloured etching and aquatint.

Lettered below the image in English and Italian with the title, and "La Chesnaye pinx. / Merigot sculpt. / London Published as the Act directs, 1804 by Colnaghi & Co. Cockspur Street, Charing Cross."
