1 drawing : watercolor, ink brush, and opaque white over graphite underdrawing. | Drawing shows Butte City, California as it looked around 1854, an established mining community, when George Henry Burgess camped near there while seeking gold with his brother Charles. There are forty buildings, including residences and store fronts. Miners seek gold in a trench on the outskirts of town, lower right.
