Description

This row of three storey houses until about 1870 was a notorious slum, known as Pimlico, vividly described by Dr. N P Blaker, then house surgeon to Brighton and Hove Dispensary. These hovels were so foul and insanitary that in the early 1870s Brighton’s first slum clearance got rid of them. This view shows the houses in poor condition with a fisherman's net against the wall and people in the doorways.
