J. Logan, of Aberdeen

From the collection

Title

2d - Monument in the session room of the Cathedral of old Aberdeen

Date

1820

Description

The artist, of this drawing of St Machar's, is ‘J. Logan’ and the date is 1820. The printed notes beneath the title read: 'The arch is 6 feet 5 inch in span, 5 feet 8 inch from the floor to the top, 2 feet 8 from Dº to the spring of the arch'. This drawing gives no clue as to the significance of the monument shown. It may be one of several tombs within the cathedral. These include the burial places of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Aberdeen, Gavin Dunbar (d.1532), and the Scottish Episcopalian Bishop of Aberdeen, Patrick Forbes (d.1635).

Collective title: Hutton Drawings > [Volume 1] > Aberdeenshire
