A white woman in a covered chair with elaborate decoration carried by two Brazillian men in uniform, others driving the carriage of a gentleman at left, a house with crest below the window behind; after Lieutenant Chamberlain, illustration from 'Views and Costumes of the City and Neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro' (Published 1822), a splash of brown ink across background of image. 1821. Hand-coloured aquatint and etching.
