Watercolour illustration commissioned by William Roxburgh. ROX2186.
In his 'Flora Indica', Roxburgh describes this species as a small, upright tree, native of Silhet. He also writes: '...flowers and ripe seed were found on the same trees in the month of January 1812, but whether it is in constant flower and fruit the whole year round, I cannot say.'
Roxburgh, 'Flora Indica' (1832) v.1, p.628.
