Description
A watercolour drawing of a lady seated at a table in a panelled interior, writing a letter. The letter on the table reads in microscopic letters, 'Dear Madam, I should have honour...' There is a version of the drawing in pencil in the Courtauld Gallery (D.1952.RW.857), previously attributed to Francis Hayman. A. P. Oppé has suggested that this drawing may or may not show Paul Sandby's wife, whom he married in 1757.
Descriptive Medium: 'Pencil and watercolour', 'pencil, watercolour'
