Description

Satire: a lawyer on the left and a stout government minister on the right, seated at a table and clinking glasses with the Devil who is assisting them; the room littered with money bags labelled 'Perquisites in Office' etc. and bills labelled 'Contrivance to raise New Taxes' etc.; the mace lying in the left foreground and a picture on the wall of the five loaves and two fish. 2 September 1784. Hand-coloured mezzotint.
