Description

Plate from 'Pompa Funebris Alberti Pii', after Jacques Francquart, illustrating the funeral procession of Albert the Pious (1559–1621), Archduke of Austria, son of Emperor Maximilian II. 2 sheets pasted together at center.The first edition of this series contains 54 numbered plates and an engraved title page, published in 1623.The second and third editions contain 66 plates and were published in 1728 and 1729 respectively. Medium: etching with hand colouring.
