Description

Grove House, in Muswell Hill. The house was designed by Robert Adam. At one time it was the home of John Porker, a City banker, between 1782-1808 (the title of the painting is likely to be a mis-spelling of Porker's name). Prior to his ownership, it was the home of Topham and Lady Diana Beauclerk, friends of Dr Samuel Johnson who often visited them there.
