Inscription reads: San Simplicius, a Pisan Church, Terranova.

Terranova is now known as Olbia, Sicily. Dutton, in 'Founder of a city', states that Light was in Sardinia from May to October/November 1829. Light has depicted a view looking east from near the west end of the Basilica of San Simplicio.
