Description

Front elevation of a neo-Classical façade with pediment and architrave supported on six columns of the Ionic Order on a stylobate with ornate lamp fittings at either end. Inscribed on the reverse "Surgeons' Hall, Edinburgh." The frontage remains intact as depicted although has been heavily embellished with a string of acanthus leaves across the frieze, carving within the pediment and above the entrance door, acroterions on the apex and lower angles of the pediment and gateway piers in place of the lamps at the terminals of the stylobate.
