Description
Drawing; Mohawk or Iroquois family camping just outside Montreal. They are probably from Kanawake, just across the river. Before the railway and Victoria bridge was built, Indians used to camp there - Montreal Common. It is just at the entrance of Lachine rapids where the fishing was good. The big church on the extreme right is Christchurch, burnt 1856. The church in the middle of the picture may be St. Patricks.
