Description

A view of an earthen mound at Rathcroghan, Co. Roscommon. To the foreground, bottom right, two men, one sitting, one standing, look upon the mound.

Rathcroghan, Cruachan Aí, is known as the ancient capital of Connacht and is one of the six Royal sites of Ireland. It is the location of numerous prehistoric burial mounds from the Bronze and Iron Age.
